Spring Branch ISD

Mr. Zema

Welcome Freshmen to Memorial High School! This is my 25th year at Memorial. MHS is among the finest comprehensive public high schools in Houston, and one of the best in the United States. During my tenure here, I have taught mathematics, English, and world geography. I currently teach Pre-AP world geography and grade-level world geography. I was born, raised, and educated in western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, and I earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography with an emphasis in Urban Geography and Planning. I have also done graduate work in Houston at the University of St. Thomas. As an educator, I have been able to travel to Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Canada, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Poland. My most recent trip was Spring 2019: I visited Mexico City and locations near CDMX. I encourage you to travel and learn about the amazing diversity of our world. I also hope you will share your global experiences and insights with fellow students and me. We can all learn so much from each other and I will endeavor to foster an atmosphere of openness in order for this to occur in the classroom every day. As always, I am excited to begin a new year with new students in World Geography at MHS: welcome aboard!
