Spring Branch ISD

English II Pre - AP

Hello, students and parents! My name is Kathy Suerth, and I teach English II Pre-AP at Stratford High School. The 2018-19 school year is my sixth full year at Stratford. I am so excited to begin a new year with your students, and look forward to getting to know them throughout the school year.

I myself am a product of Spring Branch ISD. I attended SBISD schools from elementary through high school, attending Frostwood Elementary, Memorial Middle School (Memorial Junior High), and Memorial High School (class of 1991). My undergraduate degree was in Psychology, with minors in Journalism and English from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, and I received my Master of Education in Counseling from Houston Baptist University in 1997.

My teaching career began in 1997 at Spring Branch Middle School, where I worked under former Superintendent Dr. Duncan Klussmann, who was principal at the time. I taught eighth grade Language Arts and Journalism (yearbook) at SBMS for 3 ½ years prior to retiring to stay home with my children. I have three children who go to school in the district. Maddie, currently a senior at Stratford, is my oldest. Jack, my middle child, is a junior at SHS, and Melanie, my youngest, is in 7th grade at Spring Forest Middle. My husband, Mike, and I have enjoyed living in the Stratford community for the past 15 years. We live in Nottingham Forest, although we are currently displaced from Hurricane Harvey. We hope to be back in our home by mid fall.

In addition to teaching, I am also the senior girl’s Tri-Theta co-sponsor for the 2018-19 school year. Outside of school, I very much enjoy travel, volunteer work, and spending time with my family.

Thank you for sharing your child with me this year, and GO SPARTANS!
