Spring Branch ISD

Robin Chavez

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

I am so excited to be a part of the Wilchester Family.  I was previously a 5th grade teacher for nine years at Memorial Drive Elementary here in Spring Branch ISD and started my career in Fort Bend ISD.

I was born right here in Houston, Texas and have lived here all my life.  I knew from a very early age that I wanted to be a teacher.  In fact, I think I “taught” school to every kid on my block!  I graduated from Houston Baptist University, where I double majored in Elementary Education and Special Education.   Over the past 26 years I have gained experience in curriculum writing and leadership roles.  I have served on numerous committees at the district level as well as playing an active role on committees at my previous school and here at Wilchester.

My role as a Language Arts teacher is to help each child gain an appreciation and love for reading and writing.  I try to help each child find a book that becomes the key to unlocking their interest in reading.  It is one of my greatest joys to help a child who might not think that reading is his/her favorite thing, find a book that he/she can relate to and watch as he/she take off on a great adventure that leads to other great adventures!  As a writing teacher my goal is to give each child confidence in their ability as a writer.  Because of my experience as a child, it is important to me to help find the good in each child’s writing and build upon that foundation.  I feel that once the foundation is built there is no limit to the success they will achieve.

I look forward to a great year!  It is a pleasure to be here at Wilchester with your wonderful children!  We are going to have a great time!
