Spring Branch ISD

Principal at Valley Oaks Elementary

Welcome to Valley Oaks Elementary!

I am excited to introduce myself as I begin my fourth year serving the Valley Oaks community as its Lead Learner and Principal.  I cannot wait to get to know each of you and your precious children.  My first priority is to support the safe, nurturing, rigorous learning environment already established here at VOE.

I spent the first ten years of my career as a leader in the classroom at Hunters Creek Elementary School.  Growing up, I always knew I would pursue teaching. My extracurricular activity choices centered on mentoring, teaching, or serving children.  I attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor because I knew I would receive outstanding teacher preparation. Although I could not have verbalized my motivations at the time, teaching fulfilled my desire to serve and be invested in the lives of children.  It wasn’t until team leadership was thrust upon me as a young educator amongst more experienced peers that I realized my values and desire to serve could positively impact more than just the students in my classroom. It was a challenging experience, and I was rewarded with an expanded vision of where my sphere of influence could reach.  This led me to pursue my Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision at the University of Houston.

Being hired as the Assistant Principal at Rummel Creek Elementary School in 2013 was a dream come true.  Not only could I continue my career in this beloved district, but I could also return to the neighborhood where I grew up.  I’ve been blessed to serve in this position during an exciting time for the school.  I started as an AP in the original building built in the 1960s and moved to the transition campus and then back to a brand new Rummel Creek.

Growing up in Spring Branch made me who I am today.  The amazing teachers and administrators that poured so much love and learning into my life, gave me courage and confidence to pursue my dreams.  Since beginning Memorial Middle School at age 11, I have been unable to leave Spring Branch.  There is something special about this district.  For me, it is home.  My goal is to provide each of your children with the same opportunities I received through my great education which not only prepared me for college, but for life.  I look forward to meeting you!
