SBAI Social Studies

January, 2020

SBAI elementary students will rarely have social studies homework.  The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will occasionally be asked to study for tests or memorize historical passages at home. Students will be notified of test dates and project deadlines in class.  Dates will also be posted here.  

 

Homework

 

5th Grade:  Memorize the poem "Paul Revere's Ride" and/or the preamble to the Declaration of Independence by Feb. 3, 2020.

1st, 2nd & 4th Grades:  No homework at this time.

 

Curriculum Update

All grade levels have received district-required digital citizenship lessons about online safety and kindness.

5th Grade - The students have been learning about the 13 original colonies and what life was like living in them.

4th Grade - The students have been learning about the purpose of the Spanish missions in Texas.

3rd Grade - The students have been learning about the branches of government.

1st and 2nd Grades - The students have been learning about nonfiction features.  They are creating their own nonfiction magazines to showcase some of these features.
