Resource Math 6-8

Hello,

I am Stephanie Wilson and I love teaching Math.  This is my 5th  year at Spring Woods Middle School.  I teach grades 6-8 in the Resource Setting.

A bit about my background:  I enjoy traveling which probably stems from growing up as a "Military Brat".  My father was in the Coast Guard and I lived in New Orleans, Louisiana; Cleveland, Ohio; Kailua, Hawaii; and Houston, TX.

As an adult, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia, West Africa.  Here, I lived in a small village and worked in rural cooperatives with women's groups and farmers.  My job was basically teaching hands on math: how to weigh their groundnuts (peanuts) and figure out how much money they should get based on price per kilo.  With women's groups, I helped set up small credit unions.

Later, my husband's job took us to Cairo, Egypt where we lived for almost 5 years.  This gave me a great understanding of the Middle East and how people are much more similar than different.  From here, we moved for 9 years to Perth, Western Australia.  This was a fantastic family friendly place were we began raising our three children.  We returned to the USA in 2006.

For fun, I enjoy skiing in Colorado and scuba diving around the world. This photos is from our most rescent trip to the Bahamas.  July 2020.
