Spring Branch ISD

Resource Language Arts Teacher

Hello Cougar Parents!

My name is Teresa Castagnoli and I am super excited to be your child’s Resource Language Arts Teacher for the 2018 – 2019 school year!  I am a proud alum of the University of Houston where I received a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Minor in Political Science.  I live in Spring Branch with my wonderful husband and two amazing children!  I started my career in H.I.S.D. and worked in many areas of special education including Teacher Assistant, Behavior Teacher, Resource Teacher, and Special Education Department Chair.   Most recently, I was a special education teacher in F.B.I.S.D. where I piloted a new multi inclusionary program where I honed my skills working with students with many types of needs in a single setting.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way.  One of my responsibilities as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with your child to maximize it.  It is my goal to create a community of learners who are committed to working hard and having fun.  But above all, to feel confident that they can apply what they’ve learned to real-life situations and the importance of self-advocacy.  A child who learns to exercise self-advocacy can: find solutions to challenges, build self-confidence, create a sense of ownership over learning, and develop independence and self-empowerment.

Collaboration and open communication between home and school are keys to building a strong foundation for a successful school year.  Please feel free to contact me via email or through the schools main office number.

Warmest Regards,

Mrs. Teresa Castagnoli
