Spring Branch ISD

Mrs. Rebecca Ramey

My name is Rebecca Ramey and I am from Portsmouth, Virginia.  This year will be my 17th year as a teacher.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management with a Minor in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Christopher Newport University (Newport News, Virginia).  I worked at CNU for five years as an Assistant Director of Admissions before meeting my husband and moving to Mobile, Alabama.  I received my Masters of Elementary Education (K-6) from the University of South Alabama (Mobile, Alabama).  I taught third grade for 9 years in Mobile, Alabama.  Five years ago, Joshua (my husband), Tanner and Jackson (two sons), T-Rex (pet bearded dragon), and Scooby (pet dog) moved to Houston, Texas.  We wanted to be closer to family.  My two sons attend SBISD schools.  Tanner (my oldest) will be in ninth grade at Stratford High School, and Jackson (my youngest) will be in sixth grade at Memorial Middle School.  They both attended Rummel Creek Elementary.

I started teaching at Rummel Creek Elementary in 2014.  I have taught fourth grade, fifth grade, second grade, and this year will be my 2nd year teaching first grade.  Rummel Creek Elementary is an amazing school where students are engaged in learning and are challenged.  It represents its letters RCE (Respect-Courage-Excellence).  I truly enjoy teaching second grade and being able to integrate the subjects together for learning.

Teachers are often asked why they decided to become a teacher.  Seeing the sparkle in a student’s eyes when they realize the opportunities the world has for them is amazing!  Every day is a new and exciting day as a teacher…..the classroom is continually evolving as students continue to learn.  Teaching gives a person the chance to make a positive impact on the future.  There is nothing more fulfilling than helping a child navigate their educational journey.
