Mona Duna

Hello Wildact Families! My name is Mona Duna and I’m thrilled to be your Fourth Grader’s teacher this year.

I graduated from the American University of Beirut with a BS in Medical Technology and graduate studies in Microbiology and Immunology. In 2005, I decided to obtain a teacher certification from the University of Houston, Victoria program.

Over the years, my family and I have moved quite a bit in pursuit of my husband’s medical training. We lived in Maryland, Ohio and then decided to set roots in Texas. We have enjoyed living in the Wilchester community for the past 24 years. For the most part, I have been in your shoes trying to navigate the learning journey and friendships with my own children, while keeping them engaged, safe and loved. I have been extensively involved in their education throughout the years, which led me to develop the passion for childhood education. During my student-teaching, I’ve had the privilege of being mentored by our very own assistant principal, Sara Guillory at WCE. I have subbed for many years after that and before taking on my role as a full time teacher.

This is my fifth year teaching 4th grade Math and Science at WCE.  Over the last 4 years,  I have tremendously enjoyed the families and students that have come my way and I look forward to working with my new students this year. My teaching philosophy is that all children are unique and able to achieve when provided with a stimulating educational environment, where they can grow mentally, emotionally and socially. It has always been my mission that I provide such an atmosphere that will help students reach their full potential in a safe and loving environment.

I’m very excited to be your fourth grader's Math and Science teacher. Your child’s engagement in learning and growth are front and center of every lesson plan that I create and I can't wait for the learning to begin!

My hobbies and interests include, baking, gardening, swimming, reading historical fiction, watching Masterpiece Theater , Netflix and Amazon Prime, traveling and spending time with my family.

Whether virtual or in-person, I’m looking forward to a fantastic year getting to know your fourth grader and being a part of their learning community.
