Teacher

Welcome Westchester Wilcats!

Prior to returning to Westchester Academy in 2016, I taught 8th grade Language Arts at Spring Woods Middle School as well as English I, Pre-AP English I, English III, English IV, and Humanities at Westchester Academy for International Studies (Spring Branch ISD) and Travis High School (Fort Bend ISD). The past 13 years in the classroom has shaped my teaching philosophy: Given a positive learning environment, all students are capable of experiencing academic success. A student’s success is determined by three contributors--student’s willingness to work hard, parental support, and teacher support. My goal is to equip students with the tools and skills needed to become lifelong learners so that they may achieve success in reaching their academic goals. While I have enjoyed my experiences at a traditiional high school and midlde school, I am excited to return to where I started my career--Go Wildcats!

Education and Personal Information

I earned my undergraduate degree from Baylor University. Following graduation, I continued my education at the University of Houston where I received my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and in 2012 finished my certification in School Leadership. Currently, I am a part of the district’s Curriculum Academy in which I am helping design and write English I curriculum for teachers and students across Spring Branch ISD.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my 8 year old son, who is a Wilchester Wildcat.  Whether we are playing sports, fishing, or reading a good book, he keeps me active and busy.
