Spring Branch ISD

6th Grade Academic Math

I have had the privilege of working at Spring Oaks Middle School for 19 years.  I have been a teacher for a total for 24 years.  Before becoming a 6th grade academic math teacher, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math to special education students for 17 years.  That experience has helped me gain a better understanding of how to identify the individual needs of students and help them fill the gaps in their learning.  This is what it takes for students to be successful in both middle and high school.

My own children attended Terrace elementary, Spring Oaks Middle, and Spring Woods High school.  They all went on to get their college degrees from University of Houston.  One of them has been a teacher for 15 years!  I love Spring Oaks Middle school and I certainly love the students I see everyday.  My goal is to eventually retire from this school.  In the meantime, I want to enjoy my job every day!

My expectations for your child are pretty straight-foward.  They need to work to the very best of their ability every single day.  I will do my best to make my lessons clear for your child so that you do not have to help them with their math.  I understand that you are busy!  My students will always need their math journal, paper, and a pencil with an eraser.  If for any reason your child misses a day of school, they are still responsible for learning the lesson that they missed.  During this time of virtual learning, they can find their lessons for my class on itslearning.  When classes resume, many of the classroom lessons and suggested help can be found on our classroom website.
