Spring Branch ISD

Dr. Kimberly Coolidge

Like the famous bumper sticker says, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!"  I actually grew up near Salt Lake City and then moved to a northern suburb of Chicago.  After high school graduation, I went to the University of North Texas as a scholar in the Meadows Excellence in Teaching Program with a specialization in mathematics.  My first job in Spring Branch ISD was teaching fourth grade at Frostwood Elementary twenty-seven years ago.  Before raising my own family, I worked for two years as a Literacy and English Language interventionist at Bunker Hill Elementary and seven years in the Assistant Principal role at Memorial Drive Elementary and Meadow Wood Elementary all while completing my doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Houston.

When my own son and daughter were school age, I taught fourth and fifth grades at Rummel Creek Elementary. Like many working moms, most of my free time during those twelve years was spent chaufering my kiddos to scouts, music lessons, baseball, Tae Kwon Do, or Odyssey of the Mind practices.  They both also attended the Westchester Academy for International Studies (WAIS) in SBISD. My daughter, Katie, earned her International Baccalaureate Diploma from WAIS and now studies biology at the University of Texas in Austin.  My son, Joe, is a senior in the Westside Engineering and Geosciences Academy (WEGA) at Westside High School and is busily working on his college applications.  My husband and I are soon to be empty nesters, so it will be interesting to see what new hobbies we pursue when we no longer spend our weekends at Joe's Cross Country and Track meets.

I am excited to continue collaborating with our dedicated leadership team, inspiring staff, and extremely supportive PTA because the students at Frostwood are simply amazing. They are the future leaders. My committment to the Frostwood community is grounded in the SBISD Core Values, and although the upcoming school year may look and feel different because of COVID-19, I am comforted knowing that our Frostwood Family Spirit is strong!
