Spring Branch ISD

Dr. Kim Coolidge

Spring Branch ISD is undoubtedly a unique community within Houston, so I am forever grateful I started my educational career as a 4th grade teacher at Frostwood 28 years ago.  Originally from Illinois, I graduated from Stevenson High School; the first award winning Professional Learning Community (PLC) campus.  I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas as a scholar in the Meadows Excellence in Teaching Program with a specialization in mathematics.  I worked for two years as a Literacy and English Language interventionist at Bunker Hill Elementary and seven years as an Assistant Principal at Memorial Drive Elementary and Meadow Wood Elementary while completing my doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Houston.

My two children were raised as part of the SBISD Family as well. When they were school age, they joined me at Rummel Creek Elementary where I taught 4th and 5th grades. Like many working moms, most of my free time during those twelve years was spent chaufering my kiddos to scouts, music lessons, baseball, Tae Kwon Do, or Odyssey of the Mind practices. They attended the SBISD charter school, Westchester Academy for International Studies (WAIS) and both participated in multiple student exchange programs in Europe. My daughter, Katie, earned her International Baccalaureate Diploma from WAIS and recently graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in biology.  My son, Joe, recently graduated from Westside High School and is starting this fall at Texas A&M University in the College of Engineering.

I am excited to continue collaborating with our dedicated leadership team, inspiring staff, and supportive PTA again this year.  My committment to the Frostwood community is grounded in the SBISD Core Values as we prepare T-2-4 Ready Graduates.  We believe our students are future leaders. Frostwood Tigers continue to excel despite the challenges of a global pandemic, and I am comforted knowing that our Frostwood Family Spirit is strong!
