Allison Hayworth

Welcome to Reading Class!

I am a graduate of Baylor University.  A few weeks after graduating from Baylor, I began working at Spring Woods High School.  I have just completed my master's degree in Educational Administration through Lamar University, and I am excited to see where this new degree will take me.  This will be my 27th year at Spring Woods HS!  Because of a belief in this school and all that it can offer students, it has been my only school home for my entire career thus far, and I am proud of this fact.  I am a Secondary Reading Specialist, and I currently teach various Reading I and II ESOL(new-comers and sheltered) classes with a focus on learning the English language and passing the STAAR tests.  I always have time to talk to parents, so please feel free to e-mail or set up a conference with me to discuss your son or daughter.

Reading I/ II ESOL Syllabus ā€“ Hayworth ā€“ Room 821

Spring Woods High School

Reading I/ II ESOL and Sheltered is a support class to ensure that you practice the English language and successfully pass the English STAAR tests.  We will be reading daily:  fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, and articles, online and in print.  Every day you will be writing to explain your thinking, show that you understand what you read, speaking out loud.  Our class will be a safe learning environment where you can take academic risks.

In class, you will practice reading, writing, and speaking aloud in English to helping you improve on the TELPAS tests.  By improving your skills, you will increase your confidence so you are better able to demonstrate mastery on test day.

Consistent, daily attendance is CRUCIAL.  You must be willing to put in the individualized work towards doing what is necessary to pass my class and be more successful in all classes.

Iā€™m eager to see you walk across the stage at your graduation and receive the diploma for which you have worked so hard!

Go, Tigers!
