Patrick Dykes

Mr. Patrick Dykes – Assistant Director is in his fourth year of teaching and is an Assistant Band Director at both Landrum Middle School and Spring Woods High School, specializing in percussion.  Mr. Dykes was formerly Director of Bands at Franklinton Jr. High School and Asst. Director of Bands at Franklinton High School, his alma mater.  He was Franklinton’s percussion instructor and composer from 2013-2017.

 

Mr. Dykes graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 2016, and is an alumni of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity – Gamma Rho.  While at NSU, he marched in the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band as Drum Captain, performed with the NSU Wind Symphony as principal percussionist, performed in the McCutcheon Honors Recital, and played drum set for the Purple Haze Pep Band and NSU’s Jazz Orchestra.  Mr. Dykes also performed in the NSU Percussion Ensemble, Concert Choir, and various jazz combos.  In addition, Mr. Dykes marched the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps’ inaugural year in 2014.

 

Mr. Dykes teaches beginning percussion at Landrum Middle School, assists with the Landrum bands, directs the Spring Woods High School Concert Band and Percussion Ensembles, and assists with the Tiger Marching Band.  Mr. Dykes is very excited to be a part of the Landrum Middle and Spring Woods High School family!
